Tired of holding the steering wheel? Maybe you should try this new technology. German scientists have developed a new technology that allows driving a car using only the eye.
Researcher Free University of Berlin, Raul Rojas, said that this technology works under the driver’s eye movement. This car is reading eye movement direction and running wherever the eye is directed.
Rojas and his team presented the prototype of this technology under the auspices of the bright blue sky at a former airport land in the capital city of Germany.
Cars with the latest technology across the Tempelhof airport runway. The driver of a car without a steering wheel to steer it using his view. This car is like a ghost car, driving without hands.
With this technology, allows controlled with speeds up to 30 miles per hour or 50 kilometers per hour.
“The next target, this car can be controlled with a speed of 60 miles per hour,” said Rojas.
He added, the biggest challenge facing this car is a hindrance, pedestrians or other vehicles.
Currently, the solution to the problem was, the driver’s car without a steering wheel enough to see into the rearview mirror to drive cars.
If this technology will be commercialized, the issue of safety became a big question mark. What if the driver a good view, or was stunned to see a pretty girl for a few seconds?
Not to mention, about the disturbance calls, or when the driver should send a short message?
It was also so considered by the investigators. The car that was named ‘Spirit of Berlin’ or ‘Life Berlin’ is equipped with an automatic car GPS navigation, a couple of cameras, lasers, and a scanner that allows the car driving itself, according to the driver’s command.
“This car can do anything. It can automatically and the driver’s eyes follow the guidelines,” said Rojas.
“The car will stop at the intersection and asked for guidance from the driver.” The process only takes a few seconds.
To show that compromising the ability of the car, Rojas jumped in front of a car which is running at the speed of 10 miles per hour. Fortunately, the car stopped immediately.
“Right time, I was very lucky,” said Rojas.
If you find it difficult to run this with my eyes. There are other alternatives, using the iPhone as a remote control car.
This car will also be equipped to stop the speed of conventional systems, equipped with two large emergency button on the back of the car. Stay pinch, all closed systems.
