What do you do when your car suddenly accelerates? Here are three ways to stop the vehicle, according to Toyota:
_ Step on the brake pedal with both feet with the firm and constant pressure. Do not pump the brakes.
_ Place the gear selector in neutral. Use the brakes for a stop-controlled side of the road.
_ If you are unable to see the car in neutral, turn off the engine. This will power off at the wheel and brake assist, but as long as the key in the ignition, you will still be able to steer and brake. If you’re an engine start / stop button, press firmly for three seconds to turn off the engine. Do not touch. If you have a conventional engine key, turn the ignition key to ACC position. Remove the key from the ignition.
